Gun Locking Devices

The Village of Scotia Police Department in cooperation with Project Child Safe is distributing free gun locking devices. Project Child Safe was developed by the National Shooting Sports Foundation and funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice. It is intended to help to insure safe and responsible firearms ownership and storage.

Firearms accidents in the home have brought tragedy in nearly every community. A child finding a loaded gun is every parent’s nightmare. The Scotia Police Department strives to make Scotia an even safer place to live. As a step towards greater gun safety, anyone who has a firearm is welcome to stop by the Scotia Village Police Department at 4 North Ten Broeck Street for free gun cable-locks. It is not necessary to bring the gun. These are available for both rifles and handguns, “no questions asked.”
