Chief Pete Frisoni, Jr. became the Village’s 9th Chief of Police on September 5th, 2011.

He began his law enforcement career in 1988, serving with the University at Albany Department of Public Safety, New York State Police, and with the Schenectady Police Department for 18 years prior to becoming Chief, where he rose to the rank of Detective Captain in the Investigative Services Bureau. As second-in-command, Chief Frisoni oversaw the Detective Division, Youth Aid Bureau, Special Investigations Unit, Crime Scene Investigation Unit and the Office of Field Intelligence. He directed numerous high-profile criminal investigations and worked closely with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. Chief Frisoni has supervisory experience in patrol, investigations, communications and administration.

Since 2001, Chief Frisoni has taught extensively at the Zone 5 Law Enforcement Academy, instructing both new police officers and supervisors, as well as directing the Basic Investigator’s Course and the Police Supervision Course. He has also served on the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services curriculum committee for both courses. In addition, Chief Frisoni has taught police-media relations to law enforcement executives from around the state.

Chief Frisoni was raised in Rotterdam and graduated from Schalmont High School. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcasting from Buffalo State College and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Marist College, where he received the G. Patrick Gallagher Award for research in core values in law enforcement.
